Home Tour: #3 in a Multi Part Series (Kids Bathroom)

Hello friends, it's time for another post in my "Home Tour" series! If you have been following me for a while, you might remember the first two posts in this series. If you're a new follower, or you missed the first two, you can see my living room here and my kitchen here.
Welcome to my {not so} glamorous home! Today I'm going to share with you what I call my "middle bathroom". This is actually the main bathroom, and the one that the kids and guests use. I have a love/hate relationship with this room. It's old and outdated, there are so many things I'd change about it. But I recently did a bit of sprucing up to it, and I am liking it a lot more right now than I did a few months ago. I took out the green/brown decor I had in there (that just made it look more outdated) and replaced it with colorful, modern decor.

These first 3 photos are the view you have entering the room from the hallway.

These last 3 photos are the remaining views of the room. I didn't give much focus to the bath/shower because it's just a regular old tub with ugly gold colored trim.

My fave things about this room are the colorful accents... the rugs, the towels, the curtain, the cute wall art (the wall art was compliments of the free printables from Over The Big Moon). I like the tile floor too. My least favorite things... all of the gold (trim on shower doors, faucet), the 70's style counters, the huge counter with only one sink, and the huge mirror with no molding. I take the good with the bad in hopes of gutting that room someday and making it gorgeous.

Computer Room: Progress Report #3

It has been quite a long time since I last shared with you the progress on my computer room. There hasn't been a great deal of change since the last post, but just a few touches here and there that are making me more and more pleased with it as I go along. I still have plenty I'd like to do in there, but for right now, here is where we're at. Some of the photos below ask YOU to help me with some opinions!

At this point, I want to put a curtain on the door, something fun and colorful. Paint the door to the garage (but can't decide what color!), paint the bench (again, can't decide on a color!), and make/hang a cute bunting. Put up a few more wall hangings, I think. I want this room to look fun! All in good time.
What are your opinions on door and bench colors??

Home Tour: #2 in a Multi Part Series. *Living Room*

It has been quite a while since my first post in this series, but if you have forgotten or are a new reader, you can check out my kitchen here. Today I will share with you my {not so} glamorous living room.
First I will tell you now, that it's never this clean. Under normal circumstances, the floor is strewn with toys, shoes, and there's usually a few dishes here and there. Whatever. For a reminder of why that's OK, you can hop on over here.
I took quite a few photos, from what was just about every corner/angle in the room. So without further ado, Welcome to my home:

Those first two photos are standing at the front door. Yes, that picture frame on the accent table is still in the plastic with pretend people in it. See more about the entry table here.

Love my curtains. Hate my Rug

This collage is from the loveseat/recliner area, looking all around.

I really love this gallery wall over my couch. I with this photo did it better justice, because it's one of my favorite parts of this room. I had originally saw the idea on Pinterest, and pinned it from Little Miss Momma (hers is FABULOUS!!).
The two biggest things in this room that I'd like the change/add are throw pillows for the couch and loveseat, and a rug that I can actually stand. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with my living room right now. How do you feel about your living room? Have you shared it anywhere?
Thanks for visiting!!

Oh Look, Something Shiny!!! A Summer Mantle, and No Reading Nook

Whoa. I'm so scatterbrained today. I want to share with you a few minutes in my head here. The thought process is absurd, even to me. And they are my thoughts. Really.

"I wish I was in Indianapolis right now. I miss my people. This sucks. Hmmm... I should get a few more ad spots for the blog in July. I'll add a few potential blogs to my list. Oh look, my favorite blogger, Angie put a new post up today. *Reading her post, reading her post, reading her post* I should text my mom that I love her (so I do). She texts me back asking if want to go do yoga with her and my sister at a church tonight. *Train of thought shifts, again* Oh, I'm going to Google "political parties in the U.S.". Read about Democratic, Republican, and Libertarian Parties on Wiki. Oh wow, look at Big Boy dance a jig while he licks Nutella off of his fingers. That's funny. I wonder how much Nutella is on the kitchen floor right now?"

What?!?! Yep, that was all in my head within just a few short minutes. No wonder I can't manage to get anything done around here. Sheesh! So random.
Today I had been planning to write about the reading nook that I have been working on for my Little Boy. It's coming together very nicely, and since he's not "too cool", it's way better than the reading nook in Big Boy's room. But it was in less than desirable condition for photographing today, so I opted to post about something else.
Obviously my train of thought was not in a good place for having to think of something new.
In any case, I'll share my summer mantle with you all.

Recently, I did give my mantle a little bit of a new look, but I wanted to dress it up a little for Summer. I found a lovely FREE Summer Printable Subway Art on Pinterest, and just knew that it had to go up on my mantle. I downloaded it and had it printed at Staples. It cost me $.98 to get printed, and the quality was way better than I could have done with my home printer. It came out great.

Then, I picked up a frame at the 99¢ Only Stores (my favorite!) and spray painted it with some of the leftover paint I had from a teacher gift I did last month.
I went to Ross and found a gorgeous twine wrapped vase, for only $2.99! I keep seeing this trend on Pinterest, and while it's a little outside of my normal decorating style, I decided to go for it (because it was Soooooo cheap!) and really like the results.

So overall, with the printable, the frame, and the vase, my Summer mantle cost me $4.96. Not bad! I'm considering making a bunting similar to this one as well, but it might be Fall by the time I get around to it...
I'm sure that I'll nickel and dime this project until for the next month or two, but for today, I figured I'd share.
Do you have a summer mantle?

Today: A Happy Heart

This morning, brings me a happy heart. Not that my heart is generally unhappy, but some days just feel more joyous than others, ya know? I've found this morning to bring me quite a bit of reflection that has left me with such an overwhelming feeling of contentment that I just can't help but write about it. I want to share my warm fuzzy feelings with you!
This month makes it a year, that we've lived in this house. I've never felt more at home in a house than I do here. I find myself thinking of the future here. I am eager to build memories in this home. It's not too big, and it's not too fancy, and it surely isn't new. But it's the just right place for us. It's got plenty of space for us to live and love. It's got character and warmth. I'm content to be here.
Today is the first day of Summer. This typically brings me great joy, as summer is my favorite season.
Today, we slept in until 9am. We were sleeping off the affects of a fun day at Disneyland.

Today, I enjoyed my coffee on the back porch, enjoying the sun, flowers, chirping birds and the wind gently moving through the trees.
Today, I watched with joy as my sweet Little Lady rolled around the house, exploring her surroundings with her new found mobility.
Today, The Boys each woke up happy. They snuggled their mama, and didn't bicker with one another. They were kind and loving, and helpful towards each other, and played happily with one another.

Today, is a wonderful day. Today will not be perfect, but it will be great. I'm going to embrace it!

"Reading Nook" for the Big Boy

I'm obsessed with reading nooks. How I would have loved to have one as a child! I keep seeing the greatest little reading nooks on Pinterest. I think my favorite one so far, is this one. (I'm obsessed with those curtains too!!)
My Big Boy is "cool". He's just so cool. He is set on not having a "kid room" but would rather his room look more like a teenagers. Oh, brother...
But also, he enjoys reading. His room has a little nook in it that just needed something. After giving it some thought, I decided that it would be a great little reading corner. So I started by making do with some items I already had around the house, like blankets and throw pillows and curtains. Then I picked up an extra throw pillow at the thrift store. I used a free printable I found on Pinterest and framed it.

Then I got a great organizational hanging pocket on clearance at Walmart that would be perfect for tucking books inside. I used some leftover fabric from when I gave his chair a makeover, to cover up an ugly throw pillow.
Here is what we have so far. I'd still like to do more to it, but so far, he's enjoying his nice little space!

When I was young, I loved cozy little spaces, so I hope that providing my child with this little nook will bring him some joy.
I've also started a reading nook for my Little Boy. Since he's not quite as cool as the Big Boy, I can have a little bit more fun with his! I'll share soon!

Home Tour: #1 in a Multi Part Series (Kitchen)

So, if you're anything like me, you're probably nosy you probably have a curious nature. After all, isn't that what blog reading is all about? We love taking a glimpse into the life of somebody else. Sometimes it makes us feel inadequate, sometimes it inspires us, and sometimes it makes us feel very lucky.
In any case, I doubt that this series will evoke heavy feelings like that in any of my readers. However, I do love getting a peek into other peoples homes. I like seeing what people do to their houses!
Today I am going to share with you my kitchen. I love my galley style kitchen. The colors are probably a bit outdated (at least the dark paint color hides little grubby handprints!), but this is something that I can live with for a while. But for me, the layout is perfect. I love all of my storage and my pantry. There are some things that down the road I'd like to change or update (paint, cabinets, cook-top  and oven) But like I said, it can wait.
And now, without further ado, I give you My (Not So) Glamorous Kitchen!
(You can ignore the Little Boy sneaking into some of the photos)

I love my counter tops

I love my sink

I love my Pantry. This is the first home I've ever lived in with a pantry and now I don't know how I lived without one!

Thanks for visiting with me today and taking a peek inside my home. Please feel free to follow and/or bookmark my blog. Also, I'd be SUPER excited if you would "like" me on Facebook!

Mantle Mini-Makeover

Not too long ago I had gotten the idea to change up my mantle. I don't have a before pic of it, but it was truly nothing special. I had a large canvas photo of our family hanging above it, and then some framed 5x7's on the mantle.
So to mix things up a bit, I swapped the canvas photo to another location, and traded it with a piece of framed art. To offset the earthy tones that take over my living room, I purchased some bright and colorful candlestick holders at Ross for super inexpensive. Scattered some photos and a decorative embellishment, and then added a colored vase with fresh flowers. I'm happy with the outcome :)
As my guide, I used the helpful guide shown here. Eventually, I'd like to replace the existing piece of framed art with a larger one, but for now, this will do.
As it is, the cost of this Mini-Makeover was about $15.00. Not too shabby!

Thanks for visiting with My (Not So) Glamorous Life today!! I love new followers, so please "follow" me so we can hang out!

Entryway Mini-Makeover

Our entryway is by no means a grand area, however, it is the first thing you see upon walking into our home. For the first 6 months that we lived here, I had this bench sitting there, filling up the corner.

When Christmas came I moved the bench to my bedroom, so that the Christmas tree could go in that corner. (It looked lovely there.). Since Christmas, I just never wanted to put the bench back in the entry area, so it's in the computer room, waiting to be given a facelift (that's where you see it here.)
But with the end of Christmas came a barren entryway corner. Bland and boring.
So I gave the entryway a mini-makeover (super inexpensively!), and I absolutely adore the way it turned out! It feels so homey and welcoming to me, but has the flexibility to be changed up for each season!

A friend of mine gave me the table, so that was a freebie (yay!). I got the candle as a reward from Gold Canyon so, another freebie, the bowl with twig balls is something I've had for years. The vase I've also had for years, and each week I purchase a small bouquet of fresh flowers from Fresh & Easy for only $3.99!
My favorite aspect of this set-up is the Family Rules canvas sign. I just love it!! And I paid only a few dollars for it (shipping cost) because I had some Kohl's Cash!! So all in all, the entryway mini-makeover cost me... less than $10.00. WhoooHooo!
